Gentle & Lowly

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)

Are you anxious and discouraged? We live in a broken and fallen world. We see these realities play out in even our own lives and in our day-to-day. In these uncertain and difficult days, we can easily feel nervous, insecure, burdened, hurt, cynical and frustrated.

The gospel tells us not just what Christ has done, but it also reveals how deeply he cares for us in our struggle with sin and suffering. We have a God who went before us and is with us in our suffering and pain. He calls us to come to him with our pain and hurt, because Jesus in his grace, is a gentle and lowly Saviour who brings us true hope - one beyond the suffering and sin we see today.

Check out this 3 minute podcast that explores the heart of Christ for sinners and sufferers. This is a 14-day podcast by Dane Ortlund - author of the book 'Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers'.
