Has Science Disproved Religion?

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

When thinking about the tension between science and religion, most people who ask questions are ultimately concerned with the empirical evidence behind the Christian faith.

Where is the evidence? Where is the logic to back up these statements? Isn’t Christianity just a blind leap of faith, compared to the institutes of science and mathematics?

But in asking these questions, have we considered how science too is based upon “faith assumptions (metaphysics) that cannot be proved”? It’s easy for most of us to believe that science is superior to Christianity, but in the end, there is nothing that can actually prove how the scientific method is able to provide truth in a world full of chaos.

Before we hold tightly on to the faith that scientific knowledge is the ultimate source of truth and reason in the world, let this article by Bethinking challenge your thoughts and beliefs on how applicable the abstract, universal laws of mathematics and logic really are to reality.
